The Samsung ML 1440 printer is designed to produce quality black and white prints. It has a boxy shape, weighing about 24 lbs. Its print speed is 15 ppm that is complemented by the ML 1440 laser toners at a 600 x 600 dots per inch resolution. The printer connects through its USB port and it is also compatible with a variety of operating systems such as Windows or Macintosh.

I’ve been using an inkjet printer for a long time. It was not without disagreements, though. You see, my daughter’s school projects and reports would often require her to do printouts. During busy school nights, these black and white printouts can reach up to 20-30 pages. Unfortunately, half of them get thrown out due to errors. I try not being critical on how much toner she’s using, but sometimes it’s just inevitable. What is more bothersome is that it’s costing me a lot to change the Samsung ML printer toner. I couldn’t help being skeptical about the printer. One reason is that it cost more than my inkjet printer at $380. Another reason is that it’s not capable of printing color. It wasn’t long, however, before I began to appreciate its great features. The printer’s boxy shape gives it a sturdy appearance. This accommodates both stability and function. Below the printer is a paper tray where you can conveniently store paper. I was glad it there were no paper tray extensions that I might break.

Installing the machine wasn’t as much a feat as I thought. The installation manual was very helpful for a non-computer savvy individual like me. I was relieved that the printer was compatible with Windows XP. Honestly, I forgot to consider that when I purchased the printer. After a few minutes, my new printer was ready.

In order to put my curiosity at bay, I conducted a little test. I created a document with the words “new printer” on it and set it up to size 10 font. I know the font was small, but I reasoned that if the output was good then so is the printer. Also, I did not want to use so much ink on just a test. Indeed, my new printer delivered 15 printouts in a minute.

I’m not too sure what the “dots per inch” means in the resolution of a printer. The Samsung printer has 600 dpi, which is probably responsible for the quality printouts. All of the characters looked sharp despite the very small font size. To top it off, there were no blotches, for a neat finish. It is perfect for my daughter’s reports.

“Toner save” is the best feature. It gives me an option to save 40% on toner usage. My daughter and I use this all the time since even when reduced to 50%, the quality is still good. It is the perfect way to save on toner.

Sure, the Samsung printer doesn’t print in color, but it’s rare that I would find the need for it. The printer is efficient, convenient and economical in the use of toner. These are basically every quality I need in a printer. The Samsung ML 1440 printer has made a good and lasting impression on my family.

When I needed to replace the ML 1440 compatible toners, my first thought was to search online for Samsung ML toners.  Wow!  So many quality sites and the prices for printer toner cartridges were fantastic!
